Santa Monica Baykeeper
Founded in 1993, the Santa Monica Baykeeper's mission is to protect and restore the Santa Monica Bay, San Pedro Bay, and adjacent waters through enforcement, fieldwork, and community action. We work to achieve this goal through litigation and regulatory programs that ensure water quality protections in waterways throughout L.A. County.
DrainWatch
The DrainWatch program works to educate citizens about the impact of urban runoff on our coastal waters, enforce the Clean Water Act, and strengthen regulations. It is a volunteer powered program with the aim of sourcing and tracking pollution discharging to our local rivers and beaches. Volunteers are trained in hands-on monitoring, data collection, water sampling techniques, and lab skills needed to assess the damage caused by urban runoff and other contaminants.
